About Us
We formed as a response to the pandemic in 2020, following a widespread community consultation with stakeholders. We became Wells Community Network CIC (WCN) in August 2021, from February 2025 Wells Community Network became a registered charity.
Our Charitable Objects
We are dedicated to making a positive impact in Wells and the surrounding areas. Our work focuses on two key objectives:
Supporting Those in Need
We assist individuals facing hardship due to age, ill health, disability, financial difficulties, or other challenges. Our support includes practical help, information, and signposting to essential services, ensuring people receive the right support at the right time.
Promoting Social Inclusion
We work to prevent social isolation and help individuals integrate into society. Whether someone is struggling due to unemployment, health issues, discrimination, or family breakdown, we are here to help them build connections and regain stability.
How We Help
We provide support through:
Our helpline – offering shopping assistance, signposting, pharmacy deliveries, and sometimes transport.
Our Trishaw service – giving people with mobility challenges the chance to get out and about.
The Wells Welcome Hub – a welcoming space where displaced people can find support, information, and connection.
Collaboration with microproviders – supporting local care and well-being services.
Facilitating conversations – working with local organizations to create a strong, supportive network.
Through these services, we strive to build a more inclusive and connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
‘The great thing about being a part of the WCN Core Group is that you rub shoulders with the most Amazing group of people! A diverse group that came together during Covid and has grown and developed to be cohesive, supportive, and outward looking. Together and separately we work on community support projects, and fundraising. Stronger together, we thrive’ Caroline
‘The opportunity to interact with such a diverse range of people from all walks of life, some with incredible 'back catalogues' provides an incredible feeling of self-worth and fulfilment.’ Nicki
‘Volunteering with WCN is not just about giving your time to support others in our community. As a volunteer on the Core Group I get so much more than I give for example friendships with inspiring people who I wouldn’t otherwise have met. It enables me to continue using skills developed during my earlier life and learning new ones all the time. WCN has some amazing volunteers involved in all our work streams. My life has been enriched by volunteering with WCN.’ Claire
